“I do – and I teach!” I earned my BFA from Syracuse University in Advertising Design while employed full-time as art director at prominent advertising agencies and publishers in upstate New York. With extensive agency experience came the opportunity to develop a variety of successful designs for regional clients that showcase high-end corporate design and branding as well as powerful retail and promotional advertising.
Currently, as professor at S.I. Newhouse School of Communications and at SUNY Onondaga, I teach design and drawing principles and techniques with an emphasis on “real world” challenges with strategies to succeed.
As senior print media designer for WCNY-TV public broadcasting in Syracuse, NY, I took ownership of the design and pre-production of the station’s bi-monthly magazine, CNY Connected/The WCNY Magazine/WCNY Connect of which Paula Kerger, president and CEO of PBS, referred to as the “best PBS publication in the nation.” A myriad of projects including the concept and design of trade advertising, print collateral materials, on-air graphics and on-air talent/voice-over contributed to the team’s overall success.
As exclusive designer for Syracuse Woman magazine, I have made an excellent publication even better by re-tooling and refining its “look and feel” with font treatment and page layout.
As executive co-producer for a series of documentaries that reveal the true origins of some of America’s most popular foods, I was able to help direct shoots, provide art direction and influence the visual aesthetics of the programs as well as assist in the editing and promotion processes.
If you like what you see, you know what to do.
